Tucson Jail Mugshot Records
Tucson jail mugshots are held by Pima County, not the city police. When Tucson Police make an arrest, the person goes to the Pima County jail for booking. A September 2024 policy change means the county no longer releases booking photos. This guide explains where to find Tucson arrest records and how to check inmate custody status without access to mugshots.
Tucson Jail Records Quick Facts
Tucson Arrest Mugshot Access
Pima County stopped releasing booking photos in September 2024. This policy change affects all Tucson arrests since the city uses the county jail. You cannot currently get mugshots through the county sheriff's department in any format.
The Pima County inmate lookup still works for checking custody status. You can see if someone is in jail and view their charges. But booking photos no longer appear in search results. This is due to the Houston v. Maricopa County court ruling that affected several Arizona counties.

Tucson Police Department Records
The Tucson Police Department handles its own records separate from booking photos. This includes incident reports, crash reports, and arrest documentation. These records stay with the city while mugshots are county records. The police department is one of the largest in Arizona with over 900 sworn officers.
The records office is at 270 S Stone Ave in Tucson. Phone: (520) 791-4462. Email: tpdpublicrecords@tucsonaz.gov. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Police reports cost $5.00 each plus $0.25 for pages over 15. Video records cost $44 per hour of footage.
Contact the Tucson Police for incident reports, 911 calls, body camera footage, and other city records. For booking records including mugshots (when available), go through the Pima County Sheriff's Department. The city department keeps arrest documentation but the booking process happens at the county level.
How to Request Records
Submit records requests to Tucson Police by email, phone, mail, or in person. Email is often fastest for simple requests. Include the case number if you have it. Provide the date, location, and names of people involved to help staff find your records.
Crime victims get one free copy of the police report under Arizona law. Bring identification and proof of victim status when claiming your free copy. Insurance companies and attorneys regularly request police reports for claims and legal cases. The department processes thousands of requests each year.
